An Olive Bistro tucked into a street

Arguably one of the finest things in life is happening upon something amazing and unexpected all at once… So much so that it encourages a blog post. When I was invited out to Olive Bistro, in Durbanville, for a Sunday pizza and a beer, I was expecting, well, I don’t know what I was expecting really, but not this…

A beer garden tucked away under a pull-down tent, nestled between overhanging lush gardens and on a street so quiet I thought I had taken a wrong turn was certainly not what I thought I would be finding. Yet I did. And I’m all the better for it…

They don’t just have a handful of beers either, they have a wide selection (yes, of craft beers too, need you ask?) and their menu is crazy… They have just about everything you’ve heard of, with their own unique twists… I initially thought of shooting for one of their mains but was assured pizza was the way to go. It was!

I wouldn’t quite call this place a secret, though, as it turned out the more I asked around the more people I found who vouched for it and even while I was there a friend came in that was just as shocked to see me there as I was to see him…

Still, try get to this place before it becomes completely bamboozled because it still feels fresh and unknown, the way adventurers like their haunts… A great venue with an original feel, Olive Bistro is definitely worth a visit…
