The MyCiTi busses of Cape Town have really been a revelation, although I don’t use them as much as I would like I still don’t pass up on the chance if I get it. In celebration of their 1 year birthday they are offering free bus rides for all!
The City invites all Capetonians to try out the MyCiTi bus free of charge on Sunday 27 May as part of its anniversary celebrations. On that day, it will be just under one year since MyCiTi started operating across parts of Cape Town.
The celebration provides the City with an opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved, and to look forward to the expansion of the system across the Peninsula in the years to come.
All trips on the MyCiTi buses will be free for the day, and no myconnect card will be needed to pay for your trip. Simply visit any station kiosk on the day to collect your pass, which you can use to ride on as many buses and routes as you like for the day. If you begin your trip on a feeder bus there will be ambassadors on the buses who will be able to provide you with the necessary pass, so there is no need to make your way to a station first to collect a pass.
For more information on the routes you can use on the day and the timetable visit www.capetown.gov.za/myciti, call 0800 65 64 63 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also follow @MyCITiBus on Twitter for regular updates.
